The Evolution of RugDollz: From 2D to 3D and Beyond
In 2023, RugDollz took a bold leap forward, evolving from their original 2D form into full 3D assets. This transition marked a major step in the growth of the RugLabz ecosystem, allowing us to explore Web3 gaming, interactive experiences, and more dynamic ways for collectors to engage with the characters they loved.
To celebrate this evolution, we released the 8888 RugDollz collection, each one fully realized in 3D, providing a richer, more immersive experience than ever before. But this expansion was more than just a visual upgrade, it was an opportunity to build out the RugDollz lore and strengthen our intellectual property.
We began steering the characters into a story-driven, gaming-focused direction, introducing classes for RugDollz based on their colours and integrating them into a larger narrative. This was the start of the RugDollz lore, a world filled with heroes, elemental powers, and endless adventures, designed to give each character identity and purpose beyond their visual traits.
Alongside this narrative growth, we expanded the universe with new characters, introducing the infamous RugTrollz, the nemesis of the RugDollz. These antagonists brought conflict, challenge, and excitement, setting the stage for interactive storytelling, battles, and a universe that collectors could fully immerse themselves in.
The shift to 3D, the introduction of classes, and the development of RugDollz lore established a foundation for RugLabz as more than an NFT collection, it became a living, evolving universe. This evolution not only enhanced the visual and gaming experience but also cemented RugDollz as characters with personality, purpose, and a story to tell.
